Master Chief Watts is a native of Sacramento, CA (by way of South Bronx, NY). He enlisted in the Navy on 03 March 1999 and attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois followed by Dental Technician “A” School in Sheppard AFB, Texas graduating in August 1999. He then attended Field Medical Service School before reporting to first duty assignment, 11th Dental Company Okinawa, Japan, where he worked as aDentalAssistant and deployed in support of Landing Force Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training.
Dentalman Watts reported to 1st Dental Company, Camp Pendleton, CA in November 2000 where he worked as expanded function technician and earned his Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Qualification. To gain more experience, he chose to cross-rate to Hospital Corpsman and attend Surgical Technologist “C” at NSHS Portsmouth before reporting to Main Operating Room, National Naval Medical Center Bethesda, MD in March 2004. HM3 Wattswould get qualified across multiple services before transitioning to night shift.
After returning from III Marine Headquarters Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa Japan in 2010, HM1 Watts had orders to the new Fort Belvoir Community Hospital and would serve as the LPO for the Education and Training Directorate. In 2013, he would be selected to Chief Petty Officer and would PCS to II Expeditionary Operations Training Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
Chief Watts would come back to Walter Reed and serve as Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) for Dental Services, Nursing, and stand up the Navy Warrior Transition Company at Walter Reed National Military Center Bethesda. While enroute to NMRTC Yokosuka, he would be selected to Senior Chief. He would serve as SEL for Clinical Support Services and Administration during his tenure. His tour would end early to report to 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, 3d Marine Division, where he would serve as the Navy SEL and facilitate medical care for RIMPAC and a multitude of exercises. Shortly after, he would screen for Master Chief and be frocked in April 2024.He reported to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command, Bethesda, MD in May 2024. Master Chief Watts is married to Tanniesha Watts and they have two children: Bianca and Chevas Jr. has a master’s degree in healthcare information and he’s a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy of class 237. Master Chief Watts’ personal decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal (2), and various unit and campaign service medals
