Capt. Corbett was born in Springfield, NJ. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves while attending The Military College of South Carolina before receiving a Navy ROTC Scholarship. Upon graduating from The Citadel, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the Surface Warfare Officer community.
In 1995 after graduating from Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, RI, Ensign Corbett reported to his first command as a Plankowner and Supply Officer for the USS KINGFISHER (MHC-56) where he earned his Surface Warfare Officer pin and Engineering Officer of the Watch Letter. Following this tour he reported to the USS REUBEN JAMES (FFG-56) as the Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer and then to Special Boat Unit Twenty Two (SBU-22) in Stennis, MS as the SOUTHCOM Action Officer.
During this staff tour Lt. Corbett took an interest in Dentistry. He transferred to NAVREGMIDLANT Reserve Unit as Operations and then Executive Officer while completing his prerequisites for Dental School. He applied and was accepted into the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
After graduating in July 2008, he reported to Naval Medical Center Bethesda for a 1 year General Practice Residency before taking over as the Dental Department Head for USS WASP (LHD-1) stationed in Norfolk, VA. Following this tour, LCDR Corbett transferred to the Sewell’s Point Dental Clinic in Norfolk serving as the Comprehensive Department DIVO and then as Fleet Readiness Officer from July 2011 through June 2015.
In 2015, Lt. Cmdr. Corbett was accepted into Orofacial Pain Residency program at Navy Postgraduate Dental School. Upon completing this program, he reported to 3d Dental Battalion/U.S. Naval Dental Center Okinawa, Japan, serving as Staff Orofacial Pain, Director for Branch Clinic Kinser, and then Senior Watch Officer.
Capt. Corbett served as Executive Officer for 3d Dental Battalion/U.S. Naval Dental Center Okinawa, Japan from 2021-2023 and then as Executive Officer, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) New England from 2023-2025. In June 2025, he assumed command of Naval Medical Leader and Professional Development Command, Bethesda, MD.
Capt. Corbett is Board Certified by the American Academy for Orofacial Pain. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 gold stars), Navy Commendation Medal (with 2 gold stars), the Navy Achievement Medal (2 gold stars) and is a qualified Surface Warfare Officer.
