EAST CHINA SEA (March 20, 2023) – Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Jose Lopez, center left, and Marines, assigned to 13th Maritime Expeditionary Unit (MEU), secure a medical training mannequin onto a stretcher in preparation for transport during a mass casualty drill aboard amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23), March 20, 2023. Mass casualty drills train Sailors to act as first responders while the ship’s medical department distributes manpower and resources to prioritize and treat the multiple casualties. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P.
