U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Elena Specht, librarian, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, poses for a command portrait at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. On August 20, 2023, Specht delivered a healthy baby boy at A.T Augusta Military Medical Center on Fort Belvoir, Va. The baby was delivered under the medical care of U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Steven Cornelius, M.D., the first Marine Barracks Washington physician to deliver a baby for a Marine or spouse attached to the unit.
