SAN ANTONIO – (Aug. 6, 2024) – U.S. Navy Lt. Rachel Robeck, of Atlanta, a medical researcher assigned to Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio’s Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine Directorate, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal by Commanding Officer Capt. Jennifer Buechel at the Battlefield Health and Trauma Research Institute. Robeck earned the award for superior performance of duty as a clinical research scientist, faculty member, and research director of the Army-Baylor Emergency Medicine Doctoral Fellowship where she developed the first tri-service emergency medicine course for physician assistants which greatly enhanced student’s knowledge, skills and mission readiness. NAMRU San Antonio’s mission is to conduct gap driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of Department of Defense (DoD) personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. It is one of the leading research and development laboratories for the U.S. Navy under the DoD and is one of eight subordinate research commands in the global network of laboratories operating under the Naval Medical Research Command in Silver Spring, Md.
