BETHESDA, Md. (Nov. 21, 2024) Lindsey White, a clinical research coordinator with Naval Medical Research Unit’s (NMRC) Clinical Trial Center (CTC) prepares a syringe for injection. NMRC’s CTC is preparing to conduct a phase 1 clinical trial for a Staphylococcus aureus vaccine, aimed at reducing frequency and severity of infections caused by Staph aureus, a leading cause of skin and soft tissue infections. NMRC is engaged in a broad spectrum of medical research, from basic science in the laboratory to field studies in austere and remote areas of the world to investigations in operational environments. In support of the Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighters, NMRC researchers study infectious diseases, biological warfare detection and defense, combat casualty care, environmental health concerns, aerospace and undersea medicine, medical modeling, simulation, operational mission support, epidemiology and behavioral sciences.
