SAN DIEGO (April 11, 2026) Jason Rexroat, with Space Tango, transports a samples of bone marrow organ chips from the ‘A Virtual Astronaut Tissue Analog Response’ (AVATAR) investigation to Naval Health Research Center (NHRC)’s operational laboratory. The samples were received from the NASA Exploration Ground Systems team after the 10-day Artemis II mission around the Moon in the Orion capsule. NHRC, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, supports Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality with research and development that delivers high-value, high-impact solutions to the health and readiness challenges U.S. military population faces on the battlefield, at-sea, home and abroad.
