Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Steven R. Deguzman, a pharmacy technician, verifies patient information and processes prescriptions at one of U.S. Naval Hospital Guam's pharmacy windows. As a pharmacy technician, Deguzman screens and enters medication orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with prescription criteria, directly supporting patient safety and reliable pharmaceutical care across the command. Deguzman is a member of USNH Guam's pharmacy team, which was recognized as the U.S. Navy Pharmacy Team of the Year for fiscal year 2025. The award was announced during a ceremony at the Joint Federal Pharmacy Seminar Nov. 1, 2025 and recognizes the team’s outstanding contributions to operational readiness, patient care, and process improvement, solidifying their role as a cornerstone of pharmaceutical support in the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) area of responsibility.
