U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Matteo Candanoza, a hospital corpsman with 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, utilizes a Battlefield Assisted Trauma Documentation Kit on an End User Device while conducting a blood transfusion on a simulated patient during a Valkyrie course on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, June 12, 2026.  Sailors utilized a Battlefield Assisted Trauma Documentation Kit which enables them to log injury types, treatments, and vital signs via a touchscreen EUD, even in disconnected environments. The course focused on learning and performing fresh whole blood collection and transfusions on simulated patients, preparing them for forward deployed and austere environments.
