Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Levi Kim, paramedic (left), and Lt. j.g. Lawannah Cumby, critical care nurse (right), both assigned to En Route Care System (ERCS) 18 from Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Portsmouth, provide medical intervention to a simulated casualty in the back of an ambulance during an ERCS course conducted by Naval Expeditionary Medicine Warfighter Development Center (NEMWDC), June 16, 2026. The two-person ERCS team is designed for in-transit casualty care, where the skills of a corpsman are critical in assisting the nurse to stabilize patients in confined and mobile environments. This training ensures ERCS teams are ready to provide life-sustaining care from the point of injury to a higher echelon of care. (U.S. Navy photo by Petty Officer 1st Class Trevin Perry)
