U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Guido Valdez, medical officer of the Marine Corps, addresses U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Hailey Arp during a visit to Naval Branch Health Clinic Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 14. Valdez presented Arp with a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for decisive actions that helped save the life of a Marine recruit during a field training event. NBHC MCRDSD is a branch of Naval Medical Center San Diego.
