BRIDGEPORT, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2026) Military medical students, enrolled in marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center’s Mountain Medicine course, participate in Naval Health Research Center’s (NHRC) cold-water immersion study, co-led by principal investigator, Timothy Dunn. Through its cold-water immersion studies, NHRC develops life-saving strategies that enable the warfighter to overcome the initial, lethal shock of entering frigid water. NHRC, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, supports Navy, Marine Corps, and joint U.S. warfighter readiness and lethality with research and development that delivers high-value, high-impact solutions to the health challenges the U.S. military population faces on the battlefield, at sea, at home, and abroad.
