Robert Hawkins, commander of Naval Medical Forces Atlantic and director of Defense Health Network Atlantic, delivers opening remarks during a military medicine leadership sync in Portsmouth, Virginia, Sept. 9, 2026. Guided by the theme "Operational Excellence by Design: Processes in Support of the Warfighter Mission," leaders from NMFL, DHN Atlantic, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Commands, and military treatment facilities attended the sync to strengthen coordination between healthcare delivery and medical force readiness.
