Command Master Chief
HMCM Joseph V. Dennis

 

Master Chief Dennis is a native of Bridgeport, Texas. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1995. He completed Recruit Training at Great Lakes, IL, Hospital Corpsman "A" School at Naval School of Health Sciences San Diego, CA, and Field Medical Service School in Camp Pendleton CA.

Upon graduation from initial training in 1996, Master Chief Dennis served as a general duty Corpsman at Naval Hospital Lemoore, CA. In 1999, he transferred to 1st Battalion, 3d Marines (1/3), 3d Marine Division Detachment, Kaneohe Bay, HI. While at 1/3, he completed two Unit Deployment Program deployments to Okinawa Japan and surrounding areas. Upon completion of this tour, Master Chief Dennis attended Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman (IDC) School in San Diego, CA. After graduating IDC School in 2004, Master Chief Dennis reported to Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms serving as an IDC in the active duty medicine clinic. During this tour, he was selected for Individual Augmentation (IA) deployment in support of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Horn of Africa. Upon his return from Kenya, he transferred to PCU FREEDOM (LCS 1) Gold crew, San Diego in 2006. After commissioning the ship, he completed USS FREEDOM 2009 deployment to US SOUTHCOM AOR. In 2011, Master Chief Dennis completed instructor school and reported to the Surface Warfare Medicine Institute as an IDC School Instructor. In 2014, Master Chief Dennis transferred to Commander, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One, serving as the Senior Medical Department Representative and N1 Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. In 2017, he reported to the USNS COMFORT (T-AH 20) as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for Medical Services and Nursing Services. He participated in Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico, ENDURING PROMISE 18, and COMFORT Deployment 2019. He reported to the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center in September of 2019.

Master Chief Dennis is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 202 (brown). He earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist, and Master Training Specialist designations.
