Captain Lund grew up in Klawock, Alaska, and began his Naval career through the Health Professions Scholarship Program.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2000 from George Washington University in Washington, DC.  He graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 2004 and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the same year.

He completed an internship in Family Medicine at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California and deployed twice with 2nd Battalion 7th Marine Regiment from 2005-2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  After his return to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, he completed the Family Medicine residency and successfully achieved American Board of Family Medicine certification.
 
His first staff assignment was to U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, where he received appointment as head, Branch Medical Clinic Naval Station Guam.  He then transferred to Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.  There, he served as a staff family physician and department head of the Medical Home Port.  At his next assignment, Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, California he served as the first Chief Medical Officer for the command, with the responsibility of driving evidenced based process improvement, the principles of the high reliability organization, and promoting a culture of trust and patient safety to the staff. Selected to fill the first billeted Chief Medical Officer at U.S. Navy Medicine Readiness Training Command Yokosuka, Japan, he supported the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) sea trials, promoted a patient safety culture, and systematically optimized underway COVID-19 medical response. He served as Executive Officer of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command in Bremerton, Washington. CAPT. Lund is now the Commanding Officer of Naval Medicine Readiness and Training Command Oak Harbor, Wa.
 
His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medals (2nd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), Navy Achievement Medal, and Fleet Marine Force qualification.
