Command Master Chief, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Twentynine Palms

Master Chief Richard A. Moreno is a native of Delano, California. He enlisted in the Navy in September 2004. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Naval Hospital Corps School Great Lakes, IL. He has since earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management. He is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy and Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman School.

Master Chief Moreno’s operational tours include 1st Battalion 7th Marines and 3rd Battalion 11th Marines with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He deployed as an Individual Augment to Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility in 2006. He served as the Senior Medical Department Representative and Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS MITSCHER (DDG-57), USS HOWARD (DDG-83), and USS PRINCETON (CG-59) with multiple deployments to 5th and 7th Fleet.
Ashore, Master Chief Moreno served at Naval Hospital Cherry Point, Naval Hospital Lemoore, Medical Readiness Division San Diego and Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific Fleet.

He is currently serving as the Command Master Chief, NMRTC Twentynine Palms.

Master Chief Moreno’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (1), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Joint Service Achievement Medal (1), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7), Combat Action Ribbon (2), Humanitarian Service Medal (1), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (1), and numerous campaign and unit awards. He is the recipient of the Surface Navy Association Independent Duty Corpsman of the Year Award.
