COURSE:

Dental Operational Forces Management Training (DOFMT) is an introductory course for active duty/reserve Dental Officers newly assigned to a ship or Naval Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) unit, or other fleet operational units.

This course is designed to prepare Navy Dental Officers for the unique challenges of operational dentistry and provide familiarization with Navy regulations governing operational dental readiness. The course will cover dental topics related to leadership, logistics, administration, and shipboard orientation.

This course is intended for Navy Active Duty Dental Corps Officer(2200)/Navy Reserve Dental Officer(2205) nominees reporting to a NECC unit, ship, or other fleet operational unit. Potential funding sources for this training include Navy Medicine Professional Development Center(NMPDC) or the nominee's command.

Surface Warfare Medical Institute, San Diego, CA; Surface Warfare Medical Institute East, Portsmouth, VA.

STAFFING REQUIREMENTS:

The course coordinator arranges for the subject matter experts(SMEs) to present lesson topics. Dental Department officers and enlisted personnel currently active within the community also provide course presentations, as do past and present Dental Officers.
