HMCM(SW/AW) Jaymie A. Isom

Command Master Chief of Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Pearl Harbor

Master Chief Petty Officer Isom serves as the Command Master Chief, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Pearl Harbor HI. A native of Freeport, Illinois, she enlisted in the United States Navy and attended basic training in Great Lakes, IL in 1996. Upon completion of basic training, she attended Dental “A” School at Naval Station, San Diego, CA.
 
Master Chief Petty Officer Isom began her Naval career as Dental Recruit at U. S. Naval Dental Center (NAVDENCEN) Okinawa, Japan, served as a Dental Technician (DT) and advanced to the rank of Petty Officer Third Class from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, she transferred to U. S. NAVDENCEN, Great Lakes, IL and served at the “Gateway to the Navy” USS Red Rover, dental clinic that processes more than 40,000 enlisted recruits annually.
 
In 2001, she attended the Surgical Technologist “C” School at Naval School of Health Sciences, Portsmouth, VA. Completing the 26-week course of instruction, she transferred to Naval Hospital Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in July 2001. During this tour, she implemented three detainee dental clinics for the Joint Task Force, advanced to Petty Officer Second Class, was selected as the 2003 Junior Sailor of the Year, Junior Service Member of the Base for FY03, and earned her Associates Degree in General Studies from Harold Washington College.
 
In 2004, she attended the Dental Administrative “C” School at Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego, CA. Upon completion of the 26 week course of instruction, she was hand-selected to report to PRECOM DET USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD-18) as the Dental Department Leading Petty Officer. In 2005, her rate changed to Hospital Corpsman (HM) due to the HM/DT rate conversion. After the commissioning of the USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD-18) in 2007, she advanced to Petty Officer First Class, obtained a national certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and earned her Baccalaureate of Science at Southern Illinois University in Workforce Education and Development.
 
In 2007, she received orders to Naval Hospital Corps School (NHCS), Great Lakes, IL, where in route, she completed the Instructional Delivery Continuum-Journeyman Instructor Training. She served as the Leading Petty Officer and Lead Instructor for the Dental Assistant accession school. During her tour she earned her Master Training Specialist qualification, was selected as the BUMED Dental Assistant “8701” Enlisted Technical Leader (ETL) and as the Subject Matter Expert for BRAC tri- service curriculum development in San Antonio TX and a vital team member of the merger for the HM and DT rating training manuals and Navy-wide advancement exam. As a proven leader and recognized professional, she was then selected to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 2009.
 
In 2011, she reported onboard the USS George Washington (CVN-73), the Navy’s only Forward Deployed Nuclear Carrier, as the Dental Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer. In 2012, she was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer and received orders to attend the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA), Newport, RI. In 2013, she reported to Navy Medicine Professional Development Center (NMPDC) Bethesda, Maryland. She served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Academic programs, Course Director for the Executive Medical Department Enlisted Course and as the BUMED Advanced Dental Assistant “8702” ETL.
 
In 2015, she reported to the USS SAN DIEGO (LPD-22) and served as the Health Service Departmental Senior Enlisted Leader. After a short time onboard, she was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer and was reassigned in 2016 to the Naval Branch Health Clinic, Naval Base San Diego, CA as the Senior Enlisted Advisor. In 2018, Master Chief Petty Officer Isom earned her Master’s Degree at University of Management & Technology in Public Administration and transferred to Naval Medical Forces Pacific and served as the Regional Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training Lead, Naval Medical Forces Pacific, where she assisted with the implementation of the new electronic health record across the Department of Defense enterprise.
In 2021, she reported to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Pearl Harbor, HI and is now currently serving as the Command Master Chief.
 
HMCM(SW/AW) Isom has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal(6th award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal(5th award), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal(8th award), National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal(2nd award), Sea Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon(4th award) and Pistol Marksmanship Medal.
