Mr. MacDonald currently serves as the Chief of Staff, Naval Medical Forces Atlantic (NMFL), headquartered in Portsmouth, Virginia. In this capacity, he supports the Commander and Deputy Commander in providing command and control to deliver manned, trained, equipped, maintained, and certified expeditionary medical forces to meet Fleet, Marine and Joint Force requirements. He oversees daily headquarters operations through direct supervision of staff and special assistants across 21 commands spanning three continents. Mr. MacDonald brings more than 36 years of combined military and civilian service to the command. His career includes service as an 11B Infantryman in the New Hampshire Army National Guard, a U.S. Air Force Non-commissioned Officer Neurology Technician, and as a U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps Officer, serving at both installation and headquarters levels in-garrison and deployed environments. He also has nine years of federal civilian service. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. MacDonald served as a Civilian Guardian in the U.S. Space Force’s Combat Forces Command, assigned to the S4 Mission Sustainment Directorate. He has also served as the Deputy Surgeon for U.S. Army North, where he was responsible for health service support of Homeland Defense, Defense Support of Civil Authorities, and Theater Security Cooperation.
