Letter from your Ombudsman

Friends and Family of Naval Medical Forces Atlantic,

My name is Anitha McKendall and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your Command Appointed Ombudsman. It is an honor and a privilege to serve our Command and its families. We have been stationed in Portsmouth for a whole year now; time is flying by and we are trying to savor all the moments we can. Before arriving here, we were previously stationed in Jacksonville, FL, North Chicago, IL, Groton, CT and Memphis, TN. Memphis holds a special place in my heart because it is where I met my husband. My journey as a Navy Spouse has been wonderfully unique and enriching at each installation. I do understand the challenges that can arise during our tours of duty, therefore in this role, I pledge to provide resources and information about our Command and community resources that are available for you.

The Navy Family Ombudsman Program promotes healthy, self-reliant families. As you may already know, Ombudsmen are here to serve as a liaison and information link between command leadership and Navy families. Your integration and family needs are important to me. As the Ombudsman, it is my pleasure to serve and I am here to help support our Command’s mission. I am committed to serving you with the highest standards of professionalism, patience, reliability, and confidentiality. Please reach out to me if I can be of any assistance to you. Your questions, comments and concerns will be held in the strictest confidence, within the guidelines defined in OPNAVINST 1750.1G CH-2 - the Navy Family Ombudsman instruction.
