Healthy eating starts with healthy food choices. Eating a balance of nutrient-dense foods, such as whole grains, lean protein, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat or fat-free dairy products is critical to weight management. These healthy foods contain the most vitamins and minerals your body needs for the least amount of calories. Due to their high fiber content, many nutrient-dense foods also help people feel full longer, which reduces their intake of calories and helps them lose weight and keep it off.
