Aerospace Physiology Technician (NEC 8409) 

The purpose of this program is to provide basic knowledge and skills required to support the Naval Aviation Survival Training Program (NASTP) and the Naval Aerospace Operational Physiology (NAOP) Program.s.

Scope

Course includes, but not limited to, NASTP administration, aircrew survival training, aviation life support equipment, US Navy Lifeguarding and instructor proficiency training.

Prerequisites

  • Graduate of B-300-0010
  • HM BASIC
  • Graduate of A-012-0077, NITC
  • Graduate of A-060-2138, SWIM CERTIFICATION COURSE (may be completed at any Aviation Survival Training Center by a qualified Naval Aviation Water Survival Training Instructor)
  •  In rate approval is required prior to submitting application package (if applicable):
    [1] Maximum age 31 (waivers considered - submit to NAMI-42).
    [2] Must meet minimum qualifications for 2nd class swimmer per MILPERSMAN 1414-010.
    [3] Applicants must successfully screen for High Risk Instructor Duty per OPNAVINST 1500.75.
    [4] Candidates must be physically qualified for transfer per MANMED and MILPERSMAN and complete an OPNAV 3710/18 (clearance for Nonmilitary/Non-aircraft personnel to fly in USN/USMC Aircraft).
    [5] Must complete an operational screening per MILPERSMAN article 1300-800 and found world-wide assignable for potential operational assignments with the Fleet Marine Force, Forces Afloat, isolated units or units overseas.
     
    Obligated service per MILPERSMAN.
    REQUIRED ENCLOSURES TO NAVPERS 1306/7:
    [1] Candidates shall not have record of conviction by any court-martial or non-judicial punishment (NJP) during the 18 months preceding assignment to school.
    [2] Master Training Specialist / Senior Enlisted Instructor's interview statement should address candidate's professionalism both in appearance and demeanor.
    [3] Commanding Officer's endorsement must address the candidate's technical or professional competence; demonstrated or potential leadership ability; general attitudes and motivation; and assessment of world-wide assignability.
    [4] Valid security clearance of NACLC with SECRET eligibility.
