CMC Galgana HMCM Fernando Gonzalez

Command Master Chief
 

A native of East Chicago, IN, HMCM Gonzalez enlisted in February 2001 and attended Recruit Training (RTC) in Great Lakes, IL, Navy Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, IL, and Field Medical Service School (FMSS) in Camp Johnson, NC. 
 
HMCM Gonzalez first assignment was to the MCAS New River Branch Medical Clinic as the squadron Corpsman for Naval Aviation Maintenance Technical Training Marine Unit.  In May 2004 he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, where he completed two combat deployments in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  In August 2007 HMCM Gonzalez executed orders for instructor duty at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, IL, followed by an Individual Augment (IA) tour with Combined Joint Task Force Horne of Africa, Djibouti where he conducted operations in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Namibia. 
 
In June of 2011 HMCM Gonzalez accepted orders to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), Okinawa Japan. While forward deployed with 1st MAW he conducted multiple exercises in South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippine Islands.  In 2014, HMCM Gonzalez received orders to Navy Medicine Training Support Center, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio TX, where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) for the Directorates of Administration and Operations.  While there he deployed with Army South to Uruguay in support of State Department initiatives and completed an IA tour to Kandahar, Afghanistan as the Command SEL for the NATO Role III Multinational Medical Unit. 

In August 2018 HMCM Gonzalez took orders to 2D Marine Division where he served as SEL for 6th Marine Regiment, deployed as the SEL for the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response Africa, and severed as the Senior Enlisted Medical Advisor at II Marine Expeditionary Force.

In May 2021 HMCM Gonzalez reported to Navy Personnel Command as the DLCPO for Medical Enlisted Detailing (PERS 407), then served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for all Navy Enlisted Detailing (PERS 40).  In May 2024 he reported to his current assignment as the Command Master Chief of Navy Medicine Training Support Command.

HMCM Gonzalez has a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and has earned his Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Qualification with Ground and Air Combat Elements.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and various campaign and service awards.
