Chief of Staff, Naval Medical Forces Pacific

 
Mr. Boman currently serves as the Chief of Staff, Naval Medical Forces Pacific (NMFP), San Diego, California.  In this capacity, he supports the Commander and Deputy Commander in providing command and control to 8 Navy Medicine and Research Development Commands and 10 Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Commands and assigned operational platforms to be forward deployable, fully trained, properly manned and capably equipped to execute operational medicine responsibilities in support of warfighter requirements. He also manages the daily operational functions of NMFP through direct supervision of the headquarters staff and special assistants.
         
Prior to assuming his current position, Boman served in the Navy for 34 years, retiring in 2011 as a captain in the Medical Service Corps. Following four years of enlisted service as a Navy Hospital Corpsman, several of his assignments as a Navy Medical Service Corps Officer included medical company commander, 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, California.; executive officer, Rear Element, 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton during the first Gulf War; medical placement officer/detailer Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, D.C.; director for administration, U.S. Naval Hospital, Rota, Spain;  Medical Service Corps and Dental Corps officer community manager, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (N1), Washington, D.C.; director, Navy Medical Department Officer Indoctrination School, Newport, Rhode Island; director for administration, Naval Medical Center, San Diego; commanding officer, Fleet Hospital Bremerton/executive officer (COO),Naval Hospital, Bremerton, Washington; commanding officer (CEO), Naval Hospital, Twentynine Palms, California.; deputy director, Medical Service Corps, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington, D.C.; and director, program operations, TRICARE Regional Office West, TRICARE Management Activity, San Diego.
 
He graduated from San Diego State University receiving a baccalaureate degree in health care administration and also holds a master’s degree in human resources management and development with an emphasis in education and training from Chapman University. He is also a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
 
His awards include: Defense Superior Service Medal; Legion of Merit Medal (3 awards); Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards). In November 2016, he was awarded the Superior Civilian Service Award.
