Preventive Medicine Program and Policy Support

We provide specialized preventive medicine and environmental health expertise for a wide range of programs, worldwide, to Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Units, the fleet, operational forces, and shore based personnel. Our mission is to provide expertise and leadership to improve the value of preventive medicine programs by developing and proposing evidence-based standards.

Our team is staffed by environmental health officers, civilian environmental health specialists, preventive medicine officers, and epidemiologists. Together, we maintain expertise on topics that impact preventive medicine and environmental health across the Navy and Marine Corps. We analyze health surveillance data to identify trends or events that may have impact on military readiness. We provide policy analysis support as preventive medicine subject matter experts within Navy Medicine. We conduct program evaluation for preventive medicine programs.
