  • Comprised of three departments that conduct innovative and expeditionary Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) and maintains the following core capabilities: small and large animal models for evaluating hemorrhage and hemorrhagic shock, immunology assays including flow cytometry, molecular biology and immunology-based assay development, test and evaluation of hemorrhage control agents and resuscitative agents, including in vitro and in vivo evaluation, and biosensor development for detection of microbial agents and biomarkers.

  • Expeditionary and Trauma Medicine Department:   conducts research focused on the protection, resuscitation, and stabilization of combat casualties at front-line points of care in the combat theater.

  • Cellular and Immune Based Adjuncts for Casualty Care Department:  conducts research on stem cell and immune based therapeutics intended to improve war fighter outcomes and survival.

  • Biomedical Systems Engineering and Evaluation Department:  applies engineering principles and design concepts to develop and evaluate medical devices, treatments, and diagnostic tools used in military medicine.
