Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) prepares to arrive in Trincomolee, Sri Lanka, for a scheduled port visit in support of Pacific Partnership 2018 (PP18). PP18’s mission is to work collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase stability and security in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships across the Indo-Pacific Region. Pacific Partnership, now in its 13th iteration, is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific.

  • A former hospital corpsman and retired warrant officer has donated a collection of historical photographs and memorabilia to U.S. Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Guam and U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, preserving a vital piece of Navy Medicine’s medical legacy supporting military operations in the Pacific during the Vietnam War. The photographs capture the raw reality of hospital operations between 1968 and 1969 at the former U.S. Naval Hospital Guam built in 1954 in Agana Heights, Guam. They show medical evacuation, patient care, and hospital staff at work. (Courtesy photo)
