M31 INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE

The Industrial Hygiene Department supports afloat commands and select shore installations throughout the NEPMU-6 AOR. We provide a broad array of workplace exposure monitoring and occupational safety and health risk assessment services on a request basis. We are customer support focused, and committed to providing safety and occupational health support to the world's finest Navy. Our services include the following:

Baseline and Periodic Industrial Hygiene Surveys:

 

  • Required every two years for afloat commands
  • Ashore survey periodicity as required by your most recent survey
  • Elements of the Surveys:
    • NAVOSH program review
    • Detailed hazard evaluations
    • Exposure monitoring/ventilation assessment results and recommendations
    • Updates Medical Surveillance requirements, Lists of Noise Hazardous Process and Areas, as well as other required Hazard lists and documentation, see the Afloat NAVOSH Manual, Chapter A3(d)(5) or Shore NAVOSH Manual, Chapter 8.

Special Surveys:

  • Upon request, the IH staff can perform special surveys regarding occupational health and safety (e.g., noise surveys, ventilation surveys, Yellow 'E' Assist Visits, NAVOSH program consultations, indoor air quality investigations, lighting surveys and personal exposure assessments).
