EXPEDITIONARY PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
M34 Expeditionary Preventive Medicine
The mission of the EPM Department is to maintain the highest level of personnel, training and equipment readiness in order to rapidly deploy Unit personnel in support of operational forces worldwide mission. The function of EPM department is to ensure maximum readiness of NEPMU-6 personnel in preparation for any military deployments and public health consultation during a disaster relief or humanitarian assistance contingencies. This includes the capabilities of the Forward Deployed Preventive Medicine Unit (FDPMU6), which is accomplished through training, logistics, equipment acquisition and overall maintenance.

Currently, neither mpox testing nor treatment are readily available in a forward deployed operational setting. Units should identify suspected cases, isolate them, and move them for care at an MTF when operationally feasible.
