Under Mil-STD-882 Series, OPNAVINST 8020.14 Series and NAVSEA Instruction 8020.6 Series, the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center, Industrial Hygiene Department supports weapon systems throughout the acquisition process by our membership on the WSESRB. We make recommendations to the appropriate system commander or Program Executive by direct interaction with the program’s environment, safety and occupational health team. We also offer suggestions for improving and strengthening program documentation, such as the System Safety Management Plan (SSMP), Preliminary Hazard Lists (PHL) and Health Hazard Assessment Review (HHAR), and Programmatic Environmental, Safety and Health Evaluation (PESHE).
Clinical guidance, including recognition, management and clinical isolation guidance are generally covered by CDC: CDC Clinical Overview
Clinical management for Fleet medical personnel can be found in the NMCFHPC Fleet Mpox Medical Guidance
Clinical guidance for MTFs can be found in the DHA Mpox Guidance Update_5Sept2024
Currently, neither mpox testing nor treatment are readily available in a forward deployed operational setting. Units should identify suspected cases, isolate them, and move them for care at an MTF when operationally feasible.
