Navy GME trains a tactically proficient, combat credible medical force by providing quality training programs that support the Defense Health and Navy Medicine mission.
 
The Navy GME Office is part of Naval Medical Leader & Professional Development Command located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.  

Important Dates in 2024

1 July 2024 Navy GME application website, Medical Operational Data Systems (MODS) opens:  https://education.mods.army.mil/navymeded/UserLogon/userlogon.htm

8 September 2024 Deadline ​to create and submit a new application. New applications will not be accepted after this date.
Modifications can be made to existing submitted applications through 15 October 2024
15 October 2024 Deadline to submit required GME supporting documents and interviews.  Deadline to make application modifications.
28 October 2024 JSGMESB Tri-Service scoring and placement begins
11 December 2024 Navy GMESB results released
​3 January 2025 Training acceptance deadline for Resident and Fellow selectees

Important Notes

 Weekly GME Applicant Assistance Open Calls are from 1200-1300 (EST) every Wednesday.  The first will be held on 07 AUG 2024 and the last will be held on 09 OCT 2024.  Dial-in info: (410)874-6747 Conference ID: 103 727 648#
 
 Previous year's Youtube broadcast can answer many of your questions related to applications for GME and can be viewed at: 
 
• Navy GME Selection Board results are expected to be released on 11 December 2024 at 12:00pm (Noon) Eastern Standard Time. Results will be emailed and available to view on MODS. Those with MODS access can logon to view your selection status.
 
 Preliminary year (PGY-1) selections and placement  are final for all medical student applicants. Notification to the GME Office is not required for acceptance.
 
 Residency and Fellowship applicants selected for GME must notify the Navy GME Office at Email address: 
usn.bethesda.navmedleadprodevcmd.mbx.gme-sb@health.mil, PERS-4415, and their command by 2359 on 3 January 2025 of their decision to accept or decline training.
 
 Interns selected for Flight Surgery or UMO training must notify their respective specialty leader of their decision to accept or decline training.
 
 For issues logging into MODS, locked out accounts, or Login ID/password questions, please contact the Navy GME
 at Email address:  usn.bethesda.navmedleadprodevcmd.mbx.gme-sb@health.mil Please do not contact the MODS Helpdesk.
 
 If you are using MODS for the first time, please read each section carefully and ensure you write down your log on ID and password.
 
 If you do not have access to MODS from a “.MIL” computer, please complete the PDF application and submit to
usn.bethesda.navmedleadprodevcmd.mbx.gme-sb@health.mil.  The GME office will create your account and input your application.
    
 Your application will automatically be submitted after you complete the final module in MODS. This will be indicated by the green “applied” at the top of your application. You may modify your application through 15 October 2024.
 
 Applicants are responsible for uploading their own documents to MODS. See #5 under “Applying to GME”.  If you do not have access please email documents to 
usn.bethesda.navmedleadprodevcmd.mbx.gme-sb@health.mil.

 Transcripts, MSPE/Dean's Letter, Board Scores and FITREPS from previously submitted applications will automatically roll over to your current application.
