The Hemodialysis Technician “C” School


The Hemodialysis Technician “C” School is aligned to the Naval Medical Leader & Professional Development Command (NML&PDC) Branch Campus, Academic Programs Directorate. Due to the remote location, the School’s day-to-day operations are carried out at the Navy Medicine Training Support Center (NMTSC) Detachment in Portsmouth, Virginia; and through a support agreement with Navy Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP). Both NML&PDC Branch Campus and NMTSC DET are aligned to the Navy Medicine Forces Support Command (NMFSC), located in San Antonio, Texas.

The Hemodialysis Technician "C" School provides instruction in the basic knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain hemodialysis equipment; and to assist with treatment procedures, patient care and monitoring of acute and chronic disorders. Perform hemodialysis procedures; performs and assists in clinical and surgical procedures, laboratory tests, equipment safety and maintenance, blood plasma collection, and managerial and clinical duties. Upon graduation technicians are awarded the Navy Enlisted Classification Code L13A and may be assigned to military treatment facilities or sea assignments aboard hospital ships.
