CLINICAL PREVENTIVE MEDICINE

PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY OFFICERS

Public health emergencies can appear and progress rapidly, leading to widespread health, social, and economic consequences. Military Commanders must be prepared to make timely decisions to protect lives, property, and infrastructure and enable DoD installations to sustain mission-critical operations and essential services.

BUMEDINST 6200.03 defines the responsibilities of BUMED activities to establish, implement, and sustain Public Health Emergency Officer (PHEO) capabilities, detailed in DoDINST 6200.03, that support public health emergency management within DON.
