EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE

Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is caused by an infection with the Ebola virus that may result in severe multi-organ dysfunction and hemorrhage. EVD is a serious disease in humans with mortality exceeding 50% in those who become ill. In 2014 countries in West Africa experienced an EVD outbreak leading the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 8 August 2014.
